what kind of music do you listen to??
havent you been asked this question often..by your friends and your prospective girlfriend??
If you find it difficult to answer that question, theres help! Jason Freeman has created a software that analyzes your iTunes library for a couple of minutes and creates a unique music signature, that summarizes the kind of music that you listen to. Its free and easy. Next time someone asks you that question, just email that person your iTunes signature!

Unfortunately, Mr. Freeman's algorithm for creating the signature is not suited to those of us will large iTunes libraries. The largest number of songs it can sample is 100, and I have approximately 4,000. Also, it only evaluates artist and album, however, the most commonly used categorization for iTunes users is genre, which is how we build our playlists. Lastly, it ignores the fact that today's iTunes libraries contain far more than just music; I have audiobooks, video files, and podcasts on three different topics. His algorithm can't possibly discount for Neil Gaiman's short stories, vintage episodes of SNL and economics lectures from Purdue.

Pardon my duh, I wrote the previous comment prior to caffeine consumption. I should have noted that modifying the algorithm to examine by genre instead of album or artist will by definition discount the podcasts, audiobooks and video files. Next time I'll keep my fingers still until the coffee finishes brewing.
